VOLAR and ATAS sign MoU, expediting commercial headway into electric aviation market
2 February 2023
Volar Air Mobility (“Volar”) and ATAS Aeronautik Sdn Bhd (“ATAS”) have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote pioneering green aviation in Malaysia, kickstarting the development of a new industry. As a joint undertaking, Volar and ATAS will establish an electric aircraft distribution business and a private green ride-hailing service in Malaysia.
ATAS is a business engaged in the provision of aviation solutions, including but not limited to, aircraft leasing management, airworthiness advisory, and the construction of aircraft infrastructure (other than architecture).
The modern-day prominence of net-zero initiatives calls for immediate action. Following the ratification of this MoU, Volar and ATAS will establish an electric aircraft distribution business and in addition, an air-taxi joint venture offering eco-friendly aerial travel alternatives. Future development pipelines between the two parties may involve pilot training or other potential collaborations to further aviation leadership in Asia.
This action marks a noteworthy stride towards raising awareness of the aviation industry’s impact on carbon emissions. As importantly, it realizes the development efforts of ASEAN in pioneering a market valued at USD 1.5 trillion by 2040.
