VOLAR was invited by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry as a plenary speaker on “Innovative Policy Making to support Green Transitions”

It was an honour to be invited by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry to serve as a plenary speaker at the prestigious Innovation for Cool Earth Forum 2023 held on April 10th in Tokyo. This annual forum convenes global leaders across government, industry, and academia to accelerate innovation for energy and environmental sustainability worldwide.

Henry, founder of Volar, was asked to speak on the timely topic of "Innovative Policy Making to Support Green Transitions." In his address, he highlighted the urgent need for policymakers to employ creative, adaptive policy frameworks that can rapidly scale emerging green technologies. 

He also highlighted the importance of collective action toward our shared goal of an equitable, carbon-neutral future. As Ambassador George Hara has advocated, we must embrace "Public Interest Capitalism" - an economic model that aligns business goals with societal needs. No single group can drive this transition alone; real progress requires cooperation across government, industry, academia and civil society.

It was a privilege to join ministerial representatives, business executives, researchers, and fellow speakers at ICEF 2023 to explore cutting-edge ideas. Events like this are essential for facilitating the cross-sector collaboration and inspired thinking needed to transition our economies and societies to a prosperous, sustainable future powered by clean energy.
